BOSTON (CBS) — Every sports fan’s favorite excuse to receive a bikini magazine by mail will arrive in mailboxes this week, and a shot of Kate Upton in Sydney will be on the cover to greet them.
The 19-year-old supermodel gets her first cover for the iconic Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, following Irina Shayk last year, Brooklyn Decker the year before and Bar Rafaeli in 2009.
Sports Illustrated touts this year’s issue as an interactive experience, including an iPhone application that gives viewers a 360-degree view of bodypainted athletes.
In the issue, Rafaeli poses with Chris Paul, Michael Phelps and Rafael Nadal. U.S. women’s soccer star Alex Morgan also appears in the issue in bodypaint, as well as LPGA player Natalie Gulbis and swimmer Natalie Coughlin.
