EMT: Mom Who Gave Birth In Attleboro Parking Lot 'Didn't Need Us'

ATTLEBORO (CBS) - A Norton mom gave birth in a parking lot in Attleboro Thursday night while she was on the way to the hospital.

Attleboro EMTs say the woman's mother was driving her to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, but had to pull over into a parking lot on Pleasant Street.

EMT Stephen Marcotte says they were quick to respond to the 911 call, but by the time they arrived they found grandma holding the newborn and mom in their car and smiling.

"The baby was there healthy and responding. They didn't need us," Marcotte joked.

We obviously checked over the mom and the child and made sure the child was warm enough. My partner cut the umbilical cord. He did a great job. The rest of the guys did phenomenal work."

Mom and son were taken to the hospital and are said to be doing just fine.
