Lucic, McQuaid Beatdowns On Kaleta Provide Only Highlights Of B's 6-0 Loss
BOSTON (CBS) -- Losing 6-0 leaves a hockey team with absolutely nothing to celebrate, and the Bruins can attest to that after stumbling in Buffalo on Wednesday night.
Despite the setback, there were some highlights from the game, as the Bruins imposed their will with a handful of fights in the contest. It didn't help them at all on the scoreboard, but in this newfound rivalry, maintaining the physical edge remains an important aspect.
Milan Lucic's fight with Patrick Kaleta midway through the first period was a unanimous decision for the big Bruins left winger, as he hammered the pesky Kaleta with a series of rights before crushing Kaleta to the ice.
Despite getting dominated, Kaleta felt inspired to pump up the crowd as he entered the sin bin, a move that left Lucic a little confused in the other penalty box.
Kaleta, who did score a goal in the second period, was back at it again late in the third, when he unfortunately got tangled up with Adam McQuaid. The hulking defenseman's 5-inch height advantage was enough to keep Kaleta from wanting to tango, so the winger authored one of the great turtles in history while Mike Weber dragged McQuaid by his shirt collar.
And in any game that involves several fights, it's no surprise to see Shawn Thornton getting involved. The enforcer had two fights, one an even bout with Cody McCormick and the other a decided victory over Mike Weber.
