Patriots Sign Underwood To Future Contract After Cutting Receiver Night Before Super Bowl

BOSTON (CBS) - Normally, cutting a wide receiver who is fifth or sixth on the depth chart wouldn't normally generate many headlines, but when it comes the night before a Super Bowl, it becomes a bit of a big deal.

That was the case with the Patriots and Tiquan Underwood, who was let go by the team on Saturday. While it was likely a tough pill to swallow for the 24-year-old, there were clearly no hard feelings, as the team signed Underwood, along with six other players, to a future contract on Tuesday.

The other players signed were Ross Ventrone, Markell Carter, Britt Davis, Matt Kopa, Aaron Lavarias and Mike Rivera.

Underwood played in six games for the Patriots this year, making three catches for 30 yards.
