Faulk Inactive For Patriots, Herzlich Inactive For Giants In Super Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS (CBS) - In what may be his final NFL game, long-time Patriots running back Kevin Faulk has been listed as inactive for the Super Bowl.

Faulk, who has played in New England since 1999, has had a reduced role this season behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead.

Other inactives for New England include quarterback Ryan Mallett, running back Shane Vereen, linebacker Gary Guyton, defensive lineman Ron Brace and offensive linemen Donald Thomas and Nick McDonald.

Coach Bill Belichick must feel good about Stevan Ridley and how he holds on to the ball to put him in this game. Also, Chad Ochocinco is active, so let's see if he can make a difference.

It's worth noting that Sebastian Vollmer is also active. The big offensive lineman has had to miss games this season with a sore back, but he's ready to go and in the lineup. That will give the Pats a very strong line, as they try and hold off that Giants pass rush.

For the Giants, linebacker Mark Herzlich will not play in the Super Bowl. Herzlich, a cancer survivor, played his college ball at Boston College.

Ramses Barden, Da'Rel Scott, Jim Cordless, Justin Trattou, Jimmy Kennedy & James Brewer also will not play for the Giants.

WBZ-TV's Levan Reid contributed to this report.
