Dominique Hans was arraigned on charges of assault and battery and disorderly conduct Friday in Salem District Court.

Investigators say she walked onto her five-year old son's school bus Thursday afternoon and started hitting and yelling at the girl, because she had allegedly picked on her son.

Hans admits getting on the bus at Proctor Street and confronting the child but not hitting her.

"I'm not saying I wasn't upset. I was upset My voice carried on. It was loud," she said Friday.

Witnesses including the bus driver, however, say she struck the child repeatedly before driving away. Her husband, Dyce, says she's just a caring mother.

"The news media made it like she was some monster or something like that. Don't do that," Dyce told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Mark Katic.

Hans was ordered to stay away from the bus stop, her son's school, the victim and any other children under the age of 12 that are not related to her.

The victim's mother was in court but said nothing to reporters as she left.

Hans is due back in court March 15.
