BOSTON (CBS) – When Tom Brady takes the field for the Patriots on Sunday evening, he’ll be protected by his offensive line and the power of prayer.

The New York Post on Thursday morning posted an email that was sent from Brady’s wife, Gisele Bundchen, to family and friends, urging them to pray for “Tommy.”

“This Sunday will be a really important day in my husband’s life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning this Super Bowl,” Gisele wrote, according the report. “So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory this Sunday.”

The Post used the email to suggest that the world-famous supermodel is not entirely confident in “Tommy’s” chances of winning on Sunday. She, however, refused to discuss further with the newspaper, simply telling the Post she was “surprised” the email was obtained because “it was a private note only sent to close friends and family.”

The story was juicy enough for the Post to run it on the front page, with the accompanying headline, “Not A Prayer!”

Brady was asked about the email on Thursday morning in Indianapolis.

“Honestly, I don’t know what happened. I don’t know anything about that,” Brady told reporters. “I don’t even know if she sent an email to anybody, so I don’t know. I don’t know what it is.”

Earlier this week, Brady said his wife did offer some advice for the game against the Giants.

“Throw the ball quickly,” Brady said of his wife’s football tips. “She doesn’t like it when I get hit very often.”

The NY papers are making a big deal about this, but when you take into account the Ugg boots, the fru-fru dog, the hair transplants, and I assume professionally done manscaping, I do not think it is possible to emasculate someone who is basically a woman already

Are you jealous of our Tommy Boy ! I think you are . GO PATS !!!!!!

Jealousy, it’s creeping all over me. Oh no, not me – you.

I am a New Yorker (only for 5 yrs) and I have to say that all of the headlines that have been hitting the papers here since the Conference Championship Games have been appalling. Maybe it’s because I’m originally from VA, but it’s very classless to assume that the Giants already have the game won and to focus so much energy on trashing the Patriots. I understand that it’s media and entertainment, but even though I’ve always supported the Giants over the Jets I’m hoping that New England makes the Giants, AND New Yorkers who support them, choke on their words.

Yeah, let’s all criticize Brady and his wife for asking close friends to pray for him.
    Are you haters THAT rotten?

It’s like Suggs telling the press “God don’t help Tim Tebow” but the 1st words outa Suggs’ big mouth when the Ravens missed that FG was “OH MY GOD!”

Go Pats! Go Brady and Go Giselle! HA HA HA!

Obviously, Tommy has a very thoughtful and gorgeous wife! Good for him! Of course NY is going to make a big deal out of nothing because they’re running scared. Can you say desperate to dig up any kind of dirt? This is just plain ridiculous! Hey Gisele: I’m sending all of my positive thoughts to the Patriots along with you! Hey–at least she’s not tebowing like some people we all know!

Even if you were not a fan of either team, after all the players and media from NY
acting less than professional, I would have to say I’m hoping the New England Pat’s
    win by 40 points!!

Ain’t love terrifyingly sweet. To hell with the safety and thrill of victory for the other team. But then a wife has earned the right to express her bias while not necessarily wishing the other team physical harm.

The New York Giants are in for a BIG surprise at Super Bowl XLVI. I think they better watch out for the GRONKSTER, because even if he is not able to make running routes to make catches from the NUMBER ONE Quarterback TOM BRADY of the NFL. I think he would be quite capable of playing on the offensive line as an offensive lineman to help block out the Giants defenders from getting to Tom Brady. Either way I have no doubt in my mind that the New England Patriots will beat the New York Giants hands down and Eli Manning will be going back to New Jersey with one win and one loss in Super Bowls just like his older brother Peyton Manning had happen to him in Super Bowl Forty Four against the New Orlean Saints. I am pretty sure you New York fans all remember that two years ago . Patriots will win big Super Bowl sunday.

I think it’s great for one spouse to pray for another in any matter. Actually I somewhat selfishly pray for the Pats to win, but also pray that players from neither of the teams involved are injured.
