BOSTON (AP) — Boston Mayor Thomas Menino is set to officially reopen the Shelburne Community Center in Roxbury following a $6 million renovation that shuttered the facility over the past nine months.
The 42-year-old facility is the second community center to celebrate completion of a major renovation in two months. Jamaica Plain’s Curtis Hall Community Center re-opened in November.

Menino is scheduled to celebrate the reopening of the Shelburne Community Center at noon on Saturday during a ceremony attended by Newton Mayor Setti Warren. Others expected attend include Boston Centers for Youth and Families Executive Director Daphne Griffin together with local elected officials and residents.
The renovations were funded through the city’s capital budget. They included a new gym floor, numerous other athletic area improvements together with new windows, boilers and an elevator.
