BOSTON (CBS) – Ever since the New England Patriots took on the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl back in 1997, Danilchuk Auto Body in East Boston has been putting on a special display for local teams in the playoffs.

This year’s Super Bowl display is simple: “Burn the Giants.”

Danilchuk has been working hard on this year’s Super Bowl XLVI display, which will be ready to view along Route 1 on Friday. They paint the cars, adding team logos and sometimes players, cheering on the local teams as they battle for a championship or big game in the playoffs.

This year, the Patriots’ vehicle will feature one of the most popular players, and a special honor for owner Robert Kraft.

“It’s going to have (Rob) Gronkowksi doing the spike on the hood. I’m going to put an “MHK” on there for Mrs. Kraft,” said “Stake,” the man in charge of painting the vehicles.

While the auto shop is hoping this year’s display will bring the Patriots some good luck, they also know it attracts a lot of fans who want to catch a peak.

“They love it. Year by year we’ve gotten more creative with them, and people want more and more,” said owner Eric Danilchuk. “We have to think up more creative ideas; it’s actually very difficult to try and run the business and have a short period of time to whip something together like this. It’s not easy.”

As for what they do with the cars when they’re done…

“We keep them in stock for a year or two. If the cars sit around too long we scrap them. All the teams we play against the cars are done. We get them crushed,” said Danilchuk.

Hopefully the Giants car isn’t all that gets crushed this time around.
