Arrow Fired Through Window Of Marstons Mills Home

MARSTONS MILLS (CBS) - A window, screen and television fell victim to an arrow when someone shot at a house on Barberry Lane in Marstons Mills. But it was all too close for resident Jeff Perry who says he and his daughter were sleeping in the bedroom when the arrow came blasting through the window, apparently shot from a crossbow outside.

"I heard a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot to me," said Perry. He says he was jolted out of bed and grabbed the flashlight warning everyone to stay away from the window and get down on the floor. The flashlight revealed the arrow sticking out of the back of the television that took the brunt of the blast.

"If not for the TV it would have gone right there where my daughter lays," he said. "That's what bothers me the most."

Perry says he's been having an ongoing dispute with a neighbor, but Barnstable police say they can't yet be sure who's responsible for the violence that came so close to his family. Police believe the arrow was fired at close range, someone standing five to seven feet from the window. Shards from the tip were still stuck in a hole in the television.

"They couldn't get it all out, that's how powerful this weapon was." Perry believes someone was sending a message with such a weapon choice, and he admits he won't rest easy. "This being the first night, it'll be heard to sleep tonight. I didn't sleep at all last night," he said.
