Chiarelli's "Guess" Is That Tim Thomas Won't Play Vs. Capitals

BOSTON (CBS) - Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli said it was his "guess" that goalie Tim Thomas won't play Tuesday night against the Capitals, according to CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty.

Thomas caused controversy with his decision to not attend the team's event Monday at the White House, explaining later on his Facebook page that "I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People."

Cam Neely released a statement Monday about his disappointment with Thomas's decision, echoing similar words from Chiarelli and coach Claude Julien earlier in the day.

"We are disappointed that Tim chose not to join us, and his views certainly do not reflect those of the Jacobs family or the Bruins organization," Neely said, in a statement.

Tuukka Rask would get the start in Thomas's place Tuesday night. The Bruins don't play again until next Tuesday, Jan. 31 due to the NHL's All-Star Weekend festivities.
