BOSTON (CBS) – MBTA Police say it was all an innocent mistake, and there was no Patriots party at police headquarters.

On Sunday, one of their officers sent a tweet to everyone who follows the MBTA Transit Police on Twitter, which said, “I was going to bring 12 pack u need beer”.

Twitter followers quickly began asking a lot of questions.

Today MBTA Police Chief Paul MacMillan told WBZ it was a simple mistake by an off duty officer who was meeting someone to watch the Patriots game.

He says the officer thought he was sending a text message, but had typed it into the wrong space.

The tweet was quickly taken down.
