Snow Coming Tonight And More Saturday

BOSTON (CBS) - Here we go!

Ready or not it is going to look a lot more like winter around here as we are now tracking two accumulating snow events in the next 3 days.

Check: Current Conditions | Weather Map Center | Interactive Radar

Storm #1:

Not sure we should actually call this a "storm."  It's more like a front with a strip of snow.

Anyhow, the snow begins after the commute tonight. It will generally be light to moderate in intensity and only last about 6 hours.

By dawn it will be long gone and on average we should see a dusting to 2 inches for the entire area. There could be some isolated totals around 3 inches, perhaps in elevated areas of Worcester County.

Not a big deal by any means, when most of us wake up in the morning, the sun will be coming out and you will just need to brush some snow off the car.

Storm #2:

As we have been advertising, this one has a bit more potential, given that it will draw in some Gulf of Mexico moisture.

Our midday weather models have come into better agreement with a storm track father to the south and a weaker storm system as well.

We are going for a widespread 2-to-4 inches Saturday, with potentially slightly higher amounts just to the south of Boston.

The storm is another quick mover starting around 7 or 8 a.m. and ending around sunset on Saturday.

There are no strong wind concerns or coastal issues with this event, truly just a light to moderate snowfall.

Watch Todd Gutner's forecast:

Finally, the weather for the Patriots game on Sunday afternoon remains pleasant, at least for January.

Temperatures will be near or slightly below normal in the mid 30s around kickoff at 3 p.m. with a northeast wind 5-15 mph.

Skies will be mainly cloudy with just a slight risk or a few flakes or drops and no significant precipitation.
