Brady On Missing Practice: 'Not First Practice I've Missed'

FOXBORO (CBS) - Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was absent from Wednesday's practice, but  he is assuring everyone he will be ready to go in Sunday's AFC Championship against the Ravens.

"It's not the first practice I've missed over the years," Brady said from Gillette Stadium on Thursday. "Coming off a game on a Saturday or Sunday, you're just doing whatever you can to be prepared. When coach feels it's best to do other things to get yourself ready that's what you do."

Despite getting the practice off to rest his sore left shoulder, Brady said Wednesday was far from a day off.

"You still use all that time very wisely. You just don't go lounge around and take naps. You put in extra work making sure you're getting prepared," he said. "You just try to do other things to get yourself ready to go. Catch up on your film work, get some extra treatments and so forth. Ultimately we're trying to be as prepared as we can for Sunday. And I'm certainly going to be prepared as I possibly can be."

"I just missed practice, that's all," said Brady. "Not much more than that, really. I'm just trying to find ways to get myself prepared to play. We're facing a great team, great challenges -- certainly the best team we've faced all year. Everyone needs to be at full strength though. It's going to be a very physical, tough, hard-nosed game. We need everyone at full strength."

The Patriots will hit the practice field again Thursday afternoon, with Brady back out there.

"I'll be out there today, you guys don't have to worry about that," he said with a smirk.
