Panthers' Jovanovski Injures Hand During Fight With Daniel Paille

BOSTON (CBS) - Panthers defenseman Ed Jovanovski may have won his battle with Bruins forward Daniel Paille Monday night, but he didn't win the war.

Jovanovski could miss "some substantial time" after injuring his hand during the fight in the first period of Boston's 3-2 win Monday night, according to the Miami Herald. He left the game and did not return.

The report said Jovanovski had his hand wrapped up after the game, but didn't say whether his hand was broken. The defenseman is expected to see a surgeon on Tuesday.

Jovanovski has two goals and six assists in 43 games this season.

Paille, meanwhile, dealt with his own significant injury earlier this season when he was hit in the face by a slapshot.
