PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) – Changes are coming to the popular Powerball lottery game.
Beginning Sunday, the starting jackpot will double to $40 million and start to grow faster overall. The game will also offer more chances to win prizes of at least $1 million and the overall odds of winning any prize will improve.
The ticket price is also doubling from $1 to $2.
The changes coincide with the 20th anniversary of the game. Powerball players spend more than $3 billion annually on the game.
Powerball drawings are on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
