Two Men Charged, 5-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Brookline Crash
BROOKLINE (CBS) –A five-year-old is in critical condition after a single car crash in Brookline Friday night. Police say the driver was drunk, and they’re looking into whether he may be in the country illegally.
Brookline police say 37-year-old Luis Parraga slammed his car into a utility pole at South and Newton Streets in Brookline Friday night just after 10 p.m.
Arriving officers say they found 25-year-old William Gomez sitting outside the car holding the injured child.
Gomez has been identified as the boyfriend of the child’s mother. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital where he later underwent surgery.
Police say Parraga had walked off from the crash scene and they found him nearby.

Parraga, who is from Roxbury, was charged with operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in injury, and operating without a license.
Brookline police said based on the investigation, they requested an ICE Detainer for Parraga, which typically indicates a person is suspected of being in the country illegally.
Gomez, who owns the car that was involved in the crash, has been charged with allowing through reckless conduct substantial bodily injury to a child and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
