Phantom Gourmet: Wegmans In Northboro

NORTHBORO (CBS) - Wegmans has only been open for a few months, but the supermarket, which boasts an enormous prepared food section, has already built quite a following in Northboro.

Dan Andelman of the Phantom Gourmet gives us a tour.

The new Wegmans Supermarket in Northboro is hugely delicious and just plain huge, with 140 thousand square feet. The store has more than 600 employees. The restaurant side has seating for 300 hungry customers.

There are dozens of restaurant-quality options courtesy of executive chef Daniel Targaglia.

"We like to be considered a restaurant on my side of the store, with a supermarket attached to it, Targaglia said. "So you can come in, with a group of people, everybody can get what they really enjoy, and be able to sit down and enjoy the meal together."

In addition to the endless self-serve prepared food stations, pizzeria, sub shop, and bakery,
the Wegmans "Food Bar" is like a gourmet lunch counter, offering half pound Angus burgers, waffle-cut sweet potato fries, and Maryland style crab cakes.

Even better news for Wegmans fans, they're planning to open additional markets in Burlington and Chestnut Hill.
