Sgt. Steve McCann surprised his daughter at school in Rowley.
ROWLEY (CBS) – Early Friday morning, 500 Marines returned from their deployment to Afghanistan.
Perhaps the most memorable reunion of the day was between a five-year-old girl and her father.
Sgt. Steve McCann has been overseas for eight months and his daughter Isabelle has been counting the days until his return. But thanks to some careful planning by mom and the Rowley Elementary School, she got a surprise she will never forget.
WBZ-TV’s Kate Merrill reports
Isabelle thought that her dad was coming home in May.
“I’m jazzed,” says Sgt. McCann. “This is a good day for me cause I get to hang out with my best friend again.”
He hid in the school’s cafeteria. Isabelle thought she was meeting up with her class, but her father was there waiting to give her a big hug, that was eight months in the making.
