After a week off the Partiots are ready to host their first playoff game as Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos roll into town. Last time these two team met the Patriots came out on top 41-23.
Shalise Manza Young spoke with Toucher & Rich about the highly anticipated game on Saturday night, the Broncos running game, the return of Josh McDaniels and the return of injured players to practice.
A guy from Scouts Inc. was very dismissive of the Broncos and predicted that the Patriots would blow them out this time around. Is this even a possibility?
“I hate to be on the fence, but it’s certainly possible. I mean look at how the Patriots recovered when they played Denver last month.”
Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien was hired as the head coach of Penn State and the Patriots rehired assistant Josh McDaniels. McDaniels was head coach of the Broncos for two season before being fired. What does his hiring mean for this week? Will he be a help against his former team?
“It means nothing as it pertains to this game, I mean I think it’s just much ado about nothing…I see no negatives to this move and like you said Tom Brady knows this offense inside and out and it’s just him collaborating with other people on how to make it even better.”
When these two team met in December Brady was hit a lot. The Patriots had Sebastian Vollmer and Logan Mankins back at practice on Tuesday which might help them. Are both of these guys ready to go?
Listen: Do You Know Who Tebow Is?
“I think Logan will be ready to go, my question is would be with Vollmer just because it’s been so long since he’s practiced or played. Yesterday was the first time he had been on the field since he got hurt against the Eagles and that was back in November and just a couple of weeks ago he was on crutches.”
The one thing that the Broncos seemed to do right against the Patriots was run the ball. Will the Broncos try to run on the Pats or do what they did against the Steelers and throw?
Also what has the media been like down at Gillette with all the Tebow talk?
