Poll: Romney Dips, But Still Holds Big Lead In New Hampshire

BOSTON (CBS) – Mitt Romney continues to fall in the latest Suffolk University poll in the New Hampshire GOP Presidential Primary.

But, he still has a big lead.

The survey of likely voters released late Monday morning shows Romney at 33 percent.

He has lost 10 points in the poll since last Thursday.

However,  Texas Congressman Ron Paul remains a distant second with 20 percent.

Jon Huntsman is even further back in third with 13 percent while Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have 11 and 10 percent, respectively.

12 percent remain undecided, a day before the primary.

“Mitt Romney’s biggest asset is the large number of candidates in this group that are dividing up the remainder of the vote,”  David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, said in a statement Monday.

“With just a 33 percent stake, he can control his destiny, so long as the others in his group continue to battle each other. So the more people in the group the merrier for Romney.”

A nationwide survey taken by CBS News also finds Romney on top.

Newt Gingrich is in second with 15 percent, four points behind Romney.

But Rick Santorum is on the move.

He’s gained 11 points since the previous survey to place third with 14 percent.

And then we wonder why voter turn out is so poor. All these stations trying to be the first to cram more polls down our throats as to who is winning, so people feel why bother to go out and vote. Same thing happens on election day, stations trying to be the first to announce who won what, it’s a shame.

All these Republicans suck. Mitt You failed in Mass and you would fail as president.

Mitt Romney is all for the rich, and powerful. He’s not and never was for the average man. And If the rest of the country goes the way of New Hampshire, the live free or die state, then expect to die from this sanctimonious wind bag.

Sad that people are not focused on someone who is honest, consistent and wants real change. Of the candidates, it is obvious that most of the candidates are merely towing the party line and will say anything to get elected. At least Ron Paul is willing to tell the truth even if people don’t like what they here.

Saw your report on TV about this and Ron Paul wasn’t even show on screen or mentioned being in 2nd place. What kind of morons do you hire to report the news on CBS?

  6. Jose says:

On you TV program, I noticed how Ron Paul who is in second place wasn’t even mentioned. Yet, Mrs. Bachmann, who has dropped out of the race was mentioned.

Furthermore, Ron Paul name, picture, and percentage was not even displayed on the graphic. It went 1st, 3rd, 4th. What kind of journalism is this??

  7. Heather says:

Ummm, is someone missing from your poll results? Someone who the media tries to ignore but who’s numbers keep on rising? Your news coverage sucks anyway, and this just makes it very clear just how biased your reporting really is. Way to cave in to the powers that be. Great job, everybody…
This is what you call BAD journalism. If this doesn’t show how the media is controlled by the government, I don’t know how much more proof people would need. Ron who? Good luck with that…

Heartbreaking. What’s become of our news industry?

The bottom line here is that the vicious attacks and charges made by most of the candidates will be used against the nominee in the upcoming election. Gingrich warned about this at the beginning of the debates but nobody listened and now it has reached the point where he is doing it too. They have all given the ammunition to the Democratic Party and I can’t wait until the fun begins.
