Romney Holds Commanding Lead In Latest New Hampshire Poll

BOSTON (CBS) – Mitt Romney still has a commanding lead in a new poll, just five days before the New Hampshire GOP Presidential Primary.

Romney, who beat Rick Santorum by eight votes in the Iowa Caucuses earlier this week, was first in the latest Suffolk University poll with 41 percent.

Ron Paul was a distant second with 18 percent. Santorum had 8 percent.

Both Paul and Santorum had modest increases from a similar poll last week.

Newt Gingrich dropped into a fourth place tie with Jon Huntsman at 7 percent.

"This is the first full day that voters had the opportunity to digest the final results of the Iowa caucuses," David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, said in a statement.

"The result is that the same three winners in Iowa are the top three contenders in New Hampshire."

The poll of 500 likely voters was conducted Tuesday and Wednesday.
