A Shopping Pro's Guide to After Christmas Sales

By now you have survived family holiday time, the Christmas tree has been taken down, and the New Year has been rung in, what next?  It's time to use those gift cards and shop the after Christmas sales! Besides the pre-holiday sales including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the after Christmas sales are some of the biggest of the year to save on your favorite clothing, accessories, and home products.

If the weather is nice, bundle up and take a stroll around Boston's shopping spots: Newbury Street, Charles Street, and the South End.  Small boutique shops are a great place to window shop for bargains. Your eye will catch the "SALE" signs in the window at specialty shops like Pinkyotto, Holiday, and Lekker Home.  Walking down these streets, you never know what sales you can find, so keep your eyes peeled.

Another way to find good deals after Christmas is checking online. Make sure to sign up for your favorite brands' newsletters to receive daily updates on sales, new products, and coupons to be used online or in store.  You can also use Shop it to Me email alerts for great deals. You can create a profile of the stores and brands you love and fill in your sizes; you receive daily or weekly sale alert emails on your chosen favorites.  Another website to track sales at is ShopStyle.  Simply type in what you are looking for and a list will come up with details on where to buy. Then sign up for Sale Alerts to email you when the desired item goes on sale.

Once you have received all of your online emails comes the fun part, go to the store to peruse, test, try on and of course, save. Head to the typical spots in Boston, Natick Mall, South Shore Plaza, Copley Place and The Shops at the Prudential Center, or the Northshore Mall for an all-inclusive shopping and saving experience.  Enjoy massive sales from everyone's favorite chain stores likeJ.Crew, BananaRepublic, and AnnTaylor and reap the benefits of department store sales like at Macy's, Sears, andNordstrom.  Most of these stores have store credit cards or rewards card program, to which you can belong to all of them! By signing up, you get special discounts or points (typically double or even triple points during post-holiday sales), that add to savings in real-time or with a future reward bonus.

Finally, take a trip to the outlet stores in Wrentham, MA and save big. Not only is the merchandise in these stores already discounted, but the stores will offer big after-Christmas sales to save you more. Check out stores like the Polo Ralph Lauren outlet, Coach outlet, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th outlet, Williams-Sonoma Outlet, and Brookstone outlet for the best deals.

Tell me, where do you shop for after Christmas bargains?
