Report: Patriots O'Brien Not Going To Penn State

BOSTON (CBS) - New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien will not be heading to Penn State, according to CBS Sports' Charley Casserly.

"O'Brien- Won't be going to Penn State," Casserly Tweeted Monday afternoon, a day after USA Today reported Penn State was ready to offer O'Brien Joe Paterno's old job.

Casserly said San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman and Boise State head coach Chris Peterson are two possibilities to take over the Nittany Lions.

O'Brien was officially named the Patriots offensive coordinator prior to this season after serving as quarterbacks coach the previous two years.

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady declined to talk about the rumors Sunday after New England's 49-21 win over the Bills, but Brady did say he hoped to have O'Brien around for a long time.

This is O'Brien's fifth season in the New England organization.

The Patriots have a first-round bye, but be sure to tune in to a special playoff edition of Patriots GameDay Sunday January 8 at 11:30am on WBZ-TV.
