Filene's Basement Closes Final Store In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) - The signs on the windows said 'Everything Must Go" as an era in Boston came to an end.

The last Filene's Basement store in the city closed its doors for good on Thursday night.

Filene's Basement has been a bargain hunter's paradise for decades. Right up until the end, the deals did not disappoint.

Shoppers who stopped in on Thursday for one last visit said they picked up dresses, skirts, and pants for just a few bucks a piece.

The Newton store was expected to remain open through Friday.

Filene's Basement, which has been around for about 100 years, became so popular, the Downtown Crossing location, which closed in 2007, was once reported to be the second most visited tourist attraction in Boston.
