Nearly 300,000 "Colorful Hearts" Build-A-Bears Recalled

BOSTON (CBS) - Build-A-Bear Workshops is recalling nearly 300,000 Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears due to a possible choking hazard.

The company is recalling 284,000 bears in the United States and another 13,200 in Canada.

"Certain production runs of this bear utilized substandard fabric, which can tear around the eye," the company said in a press release.

That tear can cause the eye to fall out, presenting a choking hazard.

The bear was sold between April 2011 and December 2011.

"Consumers should immediately stop using Colorful Hearts Teddy and return it to your local Build-A-Bear Workshop store where you will be able to exchange Colorful Hearts Teddy for a coupon for any available animal of your choice from Build-A-Bear Workshop," said the press release.
