BOSTON (CBS) – Bruins winger Brad Marchand was named the NHL’s First Star of the Week on Monday.
The Bruins lead the NHL in goals scored (119), and Marchand has been a big reason why.
The 23-year-old had four goals in just two games last week, including his first career hat trick in the team’s 8-0 win over the Florida Panthers.
For the season, Marchand has 15 goals and 14 assists.
His plus/minus rating of +25 is second in the NHL.
New York Rangers forward Marian Gaborik earned the Second Star and Colorado Avalanche goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere received Third Star honors.
