Watch Melissa's forecast:

Next Storm System:

Late tonight through midday Friday (2 a.m.-to-11 a.m.) clouds will thicken and the onset of precipitation will be a rain/snow mix.

It will switch to snow around 4-to-6 a.m. for the far northern and western suburbs.

The precipitation will maintain its rainfall status for the Cape and Islands and southern Plymouth and Bristol Counties.

Cities and towns north and west of Boston (i.e. Fitchburg, Nashua) have the potential of receiving a slushy 1-3" of snow during the 8-hour stint.

Winds will begin to shift on Friday night and turn onshore.

This will induce ocean effect snow showers and set-up a norlun-style trough for the coast through Saturday morning.

This could provide a quick coating for some coastal communities.

Otherwise, Christmas Eve will be fairly quiet and colder with highs in the middle 30s.

Christmas Day

Partly cloudy skies will give way to a slight chance of a few flurries and snow showers late in the day.  Highs in the upper 30s to near 40F.

Melissa :)
