Dr. Fred Ravens bought the house next to his Ash Street office after the woman who had lived there for decades passed away just before Thanksgiving.

"It was a white federal colonial built in 1860," he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Thursday.

Earlier this month, he hired a crew to tear the house down and while the walls were being pulled apart, he couldn't believe what he saw outside his office window.

"The money just sort of flung out, just flooded out into the air," he said.

$50 and $100 bills were everywhere.

So he asked the crew help pick up cash and from all that debris, they came up with about $2,500.

Ravens then contacted the original home owner's daughters.

"I said to them, this is a Christmas present from your mother. She can't be here this year to give you a present, but she left you this money."
