Report: Bogar To Become Red Sox Bench Coach, Royster New 3B Coach

BOSTON (CBS) - Tim Bogar will become Bobby Valentine's new bench coach, according to an ESPNBoston.com report.

Writer Gordon Edes, a frequent contributer to WBZ-TV's Sports Final, reports that Bogar will move from third base to the dugout. Former major leaguer Jerry Royster, 59, will then become the team's third base coach in 2012.

Bogar replaces Demarlo Hale, Terry Francona's bench coach in 2011. Hale will be the Orioles' third base coach next season.

Edes notes that Bogar will be a likely candidate to be the team's long-term manager when Valentine's tenure is up in at least two years.

The team has yet to replace Curt Young at pitching coach, though Edes reports that the team is considering Tampa Bay AAA manager Neil Allen.
