Busy Weather Pattern

All is quiet on this Tuesday.

Then, the cloud cover will erode and allow for a bright, sunshiny day.

Temperatures will gradually fall around 40F this morning and remain stagnant the remainder of the day.

Watch Melissa Mack's forecast:

System #1:

A clear night is ahead before clouds roll in after midnight. A warm front will give us a slight chance of a light mix on Wednesday morning, mainly north and west, before widespread showers cover the region in the afternoon and evening.  Highs will be near 50F on the last day of Fall '11.

Another mild day can be expected on Thursday, the beginning of Winter '11.  Skies will be partly cloudy and high temps will reach the lower 50s as we 'welcome'  the new season.

System #2:

This will be a fast mover with the onset of a wintry mix affecting us early Friday morning through midday.  Then, skies will be turning partly cloudy. Highs will be in the lower to middle 40s.

System #3:

Christmas Eve night will be the first signs of system #3 as clouds start to increase during the evening hours.

This system's track is going to be crucial in determining whether it's going to be a White Christmas or not.

The EURO model is a slower solution as it brings the storm into the region on Christmas day.

The GFSx is faster as it brings the precipitation in Christmas Eve night and ejects it eastward by Christmas afternoon.

When comparing both, the EURO is slightly cooler than the GFSx.

Here's the latest GFSx depiction:

In terms of snow potential, I'd say the best chance is from the Merrimack Valley with a line running diagonal to Worcester and points north and west of this 'imaginary'  line.

We are watching each model run closely.

Melissa :)
