It's teeth-chattering cold this morning as we are waking up to temperatures in the single digits and teens.

Thanks to a warm front travelling northward this morning, temperatures will be able to climb into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Watch Melissa Mack's forecast:

Winds will become gusty this afternoon with a southwest orientation.

A weak cold front crosses the region tonight which will increase cloud cover and also supply a slight chance of a spot shower for southeastern Massachusetts.

Otherwise, more sunshine can be expected on Tuesday with highs near 40F.

A midweek low pressure system will affect us in 2 ways.

On Wednesday, a warm front will be passing to our west which will bring clouds to the region early in the morning and also bring us a very slim chance of a brief mix.

The best chance of precipitation comes in the form of rain during the afternoon and evening hours.  Highs will be much warmer as they hover near 50F.

Winter arrives at 12:30am on Thursday morning.

Thursday will be a pleasant day with sunshine and highs around 50F.

A low pressure system jetting from the southwest will give us a rain/snow mix for the first half of the day on Friday. It will quickly move off to sea.

Christmas Weekend:

Christmas Eve is going to be a quiet day with increasing late-day clouds. Highs will be in the upper 30s.

Christmas Day may end up being white for some of us as a storm system is showing up on both long-range forecast models, GFSx and the EURO.

Both models show the potential of a coastal storm heading our way.

Here's the current GFSx forecast track:

The exact track is still not in agreement though.

This COULD be a snowmaker for many of us.

It MAY be a White Christmas after all!

We'll continue to update our forecasts throughout the day.

Melissa :)
