SALEM (CBS) – A burglary suspect is behind bars after a homeowner caught him in the act.

Police say Darren LeBrun was inside a home on Jefferson Ave. in the middle of the day when that homeowner showed up.

The 45-year-old LeBrun took off running, but the victim wasn’t about to let him get away.

That homeowner stayed on the phone with officers and was able to direct them to the area where he was chasing LeBrun.

Officers managed to catch up with LeBrun. He’s charged with breaking and entering in the daytime to commit a felony, larceny of property over $250 and possession of burglarious tools.

The items he’s accused of stealing were all recovered.
