BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Patriots cut wide receiver Taylor Price and signed offensive lineman Nick McDonald to the 53-man roster on Saturday.
Price was never able to break through after being drafted in the third round out of Ohio in 2010. He was inactive the first 15 games last season before catching three passes for 41 yards in the regular season finale against Miami. He played in two games this season but did not register any receptions.
Price was expected to make an impact in the Patriots receiving game but was never able to stay healthy. Teams have until 4 pm Monday to place a waiver claim on him.
McDonald, an undrafted free agent who has spent most of the season on the Patriots practice squad, has not played in an NFL game. He was signed to the practice squad in September after being released by the Green Bay Packers.
McDonald will give New England more depth on their offensive line, with Sebastian Vollmer already ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
