BOSTON (CBS) – It may have been a disappointing season overall for the Boston College Eagles, but linebacker Luke Kuechly enjoyed one of the best seasons in the NCAA.
Kuechly was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday, after being a unamnimous selection for the All-ACC First-Team on Monday.
The junior linebacker broke the ACC single-season record, one he set, with 191 tackles this season. He also set a Boston College record with 532 career tackles.
He played a big role in BC’s season ending 24-17 victory over the Miami Hurricanes, running back a 45-yard interception for a touchdown to give BC a 24-14 lead in the fourth quarter.
Projected to be a high first-round pick in the NFL draft, Kuechly has yet to decide if he will forgo his senior year at Boston College.
