Report: Red Sox Re-Sign Tony Pena Jr.
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox have re-signed Tony Pena Jr. to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.
Pena Jr., the son of the former Red Sox catcher, entered the majors as a shortstop but was converted to a right-handed pitcher in 2009.
Last year for Triple-A Pawtucket, Pena Jr. finished 9-6 with a 3.56 ERA.
If he makes the big league team in 2012, Pena Jr. would earn $625,000.
