Report: Celtics Open To Trading Rajon Rondo

BOSTON (CBS) - The Celtics may be open to trading point guard Rajon Rondo, according to a report.

ESPN.com's Chris Broussard reports that the C's are not shopping the 25-year-old Rondo, but would trade him in the right deal.

"The Celtics feel they need more scoring to take the load off Paul Pierce," Broussard wrote in the report.

Last season, the Celtics dealt away Kendrick Perkins in a deal to get Jeff Green in a way to help take some of the scoring load off Pierce and Ray Allen, but it appears that GM Danny Ainge may be in the market for another young, dynamic scorer.

Rondo, meanwhile, is coming off what was arguably his best season as a pro. He averaged 10.6 points, 11.2 assists, and 2.3 steals per game while emerging as one of the top young point guards in the NBA.

But, he also has his faults. Rondo had his worst season from the free throw line, shooting at just 56.8% (career 62.2%). He has also shown a reluctance, at times, to confidently take a jumpshot.

Rondo is on the books for three more years (after this season) and $36 million.
