BOSTON (CBS) – The parents of a missing Wayland eighth grader are fearing the worst since she snuck off to New York City more than a week ago. The teen was last seen on surveillance video November 4th boarding a bus in South Station heading to New York City’s Port Authority.
“What we’re worried about now is it’s gotten past the time where a 13-year-old would have come down by herself to where we feel she was lured here, and the question is whether or not she’s being held against her will,” says her father. He’s traveled to his native Brooklyn to search for her. “She’s a teenage kid. All teenage kids have the same issues, but we’re talking about a kid who’s a straight-A student who loves swimming and loves crew.
Her mother is at home in Wayland hoping for a sign. “For the whole week before she left she was happy and content,” says the mother. She created a Facebook page dedicated to finding her. “I don’t know if it’s helping. I don’t know if she’s looking. Someone has to know something somewhere.”
Police have searched the girl’s internet and cellphone records. She hasn’t posted, texted, nor called anyone since she left home. Wayland police plan to head to New York City Tuesday to meet with detectives and follow leads there.
