Occupy Boston Protesters Relying On Donations To Get Through Winter

BOSTON (CBS) - Occupy Boston protesters know much colder weather is on the way, but many say they plan to stay through the winter months no matter what.

"Through the winter, through the next few weeks, next summer, next winter," said Robert, a protester.

While the weather Monday was pretty cooperative with sunshine and highs into the 60's, a colder pattern will eventually take over with winter around the corner.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Ben Parker reports.

How do the protesters plan to ride out the cold weather?

"Clothes, we have a lot of clothes donations. A lot of people come and donate. The jacket I have on right now I got because I was a little chilly. Tarps and tents; we have so many supplies for individuals to winterize and insulate themselves and their tents," said Robert.

Regan, another protester, handles the clothing donations at Occupy Boston.

"Actually, it poses a lot of problems about tents. Tent-wise, I'm a little concerned about winterizing all the tents," said Regan.

Robert, meanwhile, said he plans to keep his word and hunker down at the Dewey Square encampment during the cold weather months, but admitted he doesn't expect to see everyone stick around.

"I think, like I said, it's gonna weed out the people that are here for personal reasons or the actual agenda of the whole movement. That'll definitely weed them out," said Robert.
