2 Arrested In Separate Incidents At Occupy Boston Site

BOSTON (CBS) - A man was arrested for disorderly conduct and a woman was arrested for allegedly selling prescription drugs in separate incidents near the Occupy Boston protests Tuesday night.

In one incident, a group of protesters kicked 40-year-old Matthew Douglas out of their encampment because he was not welcome. Douglas allegedly became irate and challenged the protesters who asked him to leave to a fight.

Police said they repeatedly asked Douglas to leave the scene, but he became more aggressive and they were forced to arrest him for disorderly conduct.

Meanwhile in the other incident, police received a tip that a woman and man working in the "clothes tent" at the encampment had been illegally selling the prescription pills Xanax.

Two undercover officers purchased the pills from 41-year-old Martina Martin, and later placed her under arrest on charges including drug distribution and intent to distribute.

According to the police report, officers said they have noticed an increase in "drug activity" near the Occupy Boston encampment in Dewey Square.

Both Martin and Douglas were released on their own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the Dewey Square area while their respective cases are pending.

Martin is due back in court on Jan. 25, while Douglas is due on Jan. 12.
