Business Headlines: Second Jobs, Facebook In Boston?

BOSTON (CBS) - The alternative energy industry in Massachusetts is dealing with a big hit.

Tyngsboro-based Beacon Power Corp. has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.

Beacon Power is a maker of smart-grid technology.

They have received at least $67 million in grants and loan guarantees from the federal government.

But it looks like the feds are now allowing it to fail.

SECOND JOBS

It's hard to find one job in this economy, let alone two.

But according to a survey by Fidelity, about one-in-five adults plan to get a second job this holiday season to pay for gifts.

Another 12-percent say they already have a second job.

Experts say people are seeing a second job as a sort of financial security blanket.

WHAT IF FACEBOOK STAYED IN BOSTON?

And it's the ultimate "what if?"

We all know Mark Zuckerberg started Facebook in his Harvard dorm room before taking the multi-billion dollar company to Silicon Valley, California.

Now according to a report in the Boston Globe, if he were to do it all over again, he'd keep the company in Boston.

He says the mindset in Silicon Valley is too short of an attention span.
