BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton will be doing his part to fight animal cruelty this week.

On Wednesday, Thornton will host a Wine Social at Towne Stove & Spirits (900 Boylston St.) in Boston from 7-9pm. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the American Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty of Animals (ASPCA).

Bruins teammates are expected to attend the mingle and meet event that will include light fare, beer and complimentary wine.

In addition, there will be a silent auction and raffle for Bruins memorabilia and tickets, golf outings and specialty items.
