Gronk On T&R: 'I Wasn't Asked To Apologize'

BOSTON (CBS) – New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was not asked to apologize for his bye week photo with an adult film star, but did so anyways.

"I saw Mr. Kraft in the hallway. It was just a brief discussion and that's all it was. He offered me some advice and I appreciated it very much. That was all," Gronkowski told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich Thursday morning.

"[He said] 'just always be careful, always watch out.' We just left it there and moved on to the Steelers after that," Gronk said of the exchange.

Photos of Gronkowski and adult film star Bibi Jones appeared on Twitter over the Patriots bye week, with Jones wearing Gronk's #87

Patriots jersey.

Not only was a lot made over the photo, but the rumor that Gronkowski carries around his jersey in case situations like that pop up.

On Thursday, Gronk said that is not true.

"No man, I was going out to see my buddies. All the time they ask to have a jersey so I was bringing one out for my buddy," explained Gronkowski. "They love to represent me, they love to support me and I love the support from my friends."

Now that "tweetgate" is over, Gronk is focused on the Steelers, who the Patriots play in Pittsburgh on Sunday. Last season in Pittsburgh, Gronkowski caught three touchdowns in the Patriots 39-26 victory.

"Just overall it was great execution by the team last year," said Gronk. "It's a whole new personnel this year now; a whole new group. A couple changes on both sides of the ball of us and them. It's definitely going to be a different game than last year."

"You have to study up their new players, how they're playing this year and everything so we can go out and execute; put some points up on the board."

One Steeler Gronkowski and the Patriots are very familiar with is safety Troy Polamalu, who wreaks havoc against any team he plays again.

"He's one heck of a player; he has high energy at all times. You have to be aware of where he is on the field, because he's that big of a play-maker. He's just out there to make plays and you have to be aware of him."
