BOSTON (CBS) – Two months into the school year and Boston public school buses continue to show up as much as an hour late.

On any given day 25 percent of buses are late.

Officials blame several factors, including poor route planning computer software and staggered start times that can be thrown off if one route is delayed.

WBZ NewsRadio’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports

The mayor says it starts with the school district.

“They give the instructions to the computer folks, the computer folks give it to the bus drivers,” says Menino. “I have ordered the Superintendent to fix this as quickly as possible.”

The school committee chair wants results within three weeks.

WELL this has been a problem for over a years time. The Students Need To be
Compensated for the late arrival to school, and the teachers need to be paid overtime for late afternoon buses. This Is Nothing New to you MR. Mayor ! you have received complaints from me and other parents. , for more than a years time.
