Officers Shoot And Kill Armed Dracut Man In Pelham, NH

PELHAM, N.H. (CBS/AP) -- Officials say a 21-year-old Massachusetts man has been fatally shot in New Hampshire after coming at police with a handgun.

The New Hampshire attorney general's office said Alberto Pagan, of Dracut, Mass., was killed in Pelham, N.H., at about 5:25 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said events leading to the shooting began at 3:30 a.m. when police were called to a home in Lowell, Mass., about a domestic assault.

WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports.

Officials said Dracut fled from the home in his car toward New Hampshire, pursued by officers from several different agencies.

Police say they managed to stop Pagan's car in Pelham. At that point, he got out of the car and pointed a gun at officers, before taking off again.

After stopping him a second time in Pelham, officers say they attempted to convince him to surrender.

Instead, Attorney General Michel Delaney said in a statement that Dracut advanced toward them holding a handgun and making statements to them.

At that point, several officers from different police agencies fired at Pagan.
