Massport Donates Windows, Doors To Tornado Victims

SPRINGFIELD (AP) -- The Massachusetts Port Authority is donating about $300,000 worth of surplus doors and windows to tornado victims in Springfield.

U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, Massport Interim CEO Dave Mackey and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno are making the formal announcement with the area's Habitat for Humanity director on Monday.

About 600 doors and 150 windows are being donated to the relief effort.

The June 1 tornado that struck the Springfield area was a severe EF3 storm that caused millions in damage.

Nearly 500 Springfield-area homes were damaged and three people in the region were killed.
