A crumbling, vacant, 4-story building in East Boston collapsed late Friday night.
EAST BOSTON (CBS) – Chelsea Street in East Boston is closed to traffic until further notice due to the ongoing work at the site of a building collapse this weekend.
On Friday, a crumbling, vacant, 4-story building in East Boston collapsed.
The heavy rains are believed to have further compromised the crumbling structure enough for it to finally give way.
The collapse sent brick and concrete flying across the road.
Traffic in the area of Maverick Square is expected to be impacted during the Monday morning commute.
Detours are as follows:
Westbound: Chelsea Street, left onto Porter Street, right onto Bremen Street, right onto Maverick Street to Maverick Square.
Eastbound: Chelsea Street, Maverick Square, to Meridian Street, right onto Havre Street, right onto Porter Street, left onto Chelsea Street.
