State Trooper Injured In Needham Crash

NEEDHAM (CBS) - A State Trooper was in the hospital after a car slammed into him on Route 128 South in Needham Friday.

The Trooper was involved in the crash right near the Route 135 exit at about 2:50 p.m.. At the time, he was on a funeral escort detail for a procession that was going through that area.

The State Police Sgt. was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Needham with non-life threatening injuries.

The trooper is expected to be released from the hospital later tonight.

The driver of the car the struck him, a 64-year-old Framingham man is not facing charges at this point.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
