Jacoby Ellsbury Wins Comeback Player Of The Year

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury was voted one of two recipients for the MLB Comeback Player of the Year award on Thursday.

Ellsbury played just 18 games in 2010 due to several broken ribs, but came back to play in 158 games in 2011. In his return at the top of the Red Sox order, Ellsbury set career highs in nearly every offensive category, hitting .321 with 32 home runs, 105 RBI, 119 runs scored, and 39 stolen bases.

The 28-year-old, who became the first Red Sox player to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in a single season, also led the major leagues in total bases with 364, an amazing accomplishment for a leadoff hitter.

Cardinals outfielder Lance Berkman was named the other recipient of the award. After a down year in 2010, Berkman hit .301 with 31 home runs and 94 RBI over 145 games in 2011.
