FOXBORO (CBS) – The last time Wes Welker and the Patriots played against the Jets, the receiver made some foot comments about New York coach Rex Ryan.

It was entertaining, but it got Welker in trouble with Bill Belichick.

That was not going to be the case on Friday, when Welker was focused on Sunday’s game.

He did not offer much bulletin board material though, but then again when have the Pats done that?

Standing by his locker on Friday, Welker was swarmed by the media as they tried to bait him into a “Welker versus Darrelle Revis” debate.

Wes, of course, remained even keel.

“We’ve cut out about 600 snaps between last year and this year where he’s actually been in the slot. I don’t think it’s anything different from what they do,” he said. “He’s very patient, physical, a smart player. He’s definitely going to present some problems for us.”

Welker is having a great year and Revis is one of the league’s top corners. This promises to be a great match-up on Sunday.

“(It’s a) rivalry game and the Jets are always fun to play,” said Welker. “It’s a divisional game, this is definitely key for us.”
